Fixed wireless nbn works by transmitting data between an outdoor antenna at your premises and a local nbn tower. This wireless connection links to the wider nbn network via fibre backhaul and provides rural businesses with connection to the greater network.

Upon connecting, a roof-mounted outdoor antenna will be installed by an nbn technician. A VDSL modem is also required to connect which are available to purchase, or you can supply your own.

Please note that the router must have a Gigabit WAN port in order to work with your Fixed Wireless nbn® service.

However, as with any wireless technology, severe weather or physical obstructions between your premises and the nbn® tower can occasionally impact performance. We recommend adding 4G failover to your plan for complete peace of mind during any outages.
4G failover is a backup internet connection that automatically switches on if your Fixed Wireless nbn® service experiences an outage or disruption.
